Remarks
» Subspecies Asio otus canariensis, darker than continental birds. A common owl in the Canaries (mainly in the central-western islands: Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro). Road kill is high in this species in the archipelago, mainly during the summer and autumn, which is the dispersal season of the juveniles.
