» Second calendar year male of the subspecies Falco tinnunculus canariensis, present in the central and western islands of the Canaries (Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro) and the Madeiran archipelago, where it is quite common. This subspecies can be found from sea level up to more than 3,500 m of altitude. The age of the bird was confirmed by Dick Forsman, expert in raptor identification.
