» Subspecies Asio otus canariensis, darker than continental birds. A common owl in the Canaries (mainly in the central-western islands: Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro). The bird of the image was seen active about an hour before sunset, a very rare behaviour.
