Remarks

» Subspecies Lanius excubitor elegans, typical from the Sahara desert, is a very rare vagrant to the Canary Islands (the bird shown in the images constitutes the third record of this subspecies for the archipelago, accepted by the Spanish Rarities Committee). Its arrival in the islands is linked to dust storms from the nearby Saharan territories.
