» In the Canaries only present at Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and La Graciosa. There are more birds on Lanzarote, where may be locally common. In any case, it is an endangered and protected bird with an endemic subspecies from the archipelago, Chlamydotis undulata fuertaventurae. The main threats on the species are the loss and degradation of its habitat and non-controlled presence of people walking within the breeding grounds. This image was obtained during the course of a Natural History documentary for the Canarian Government.
