The 5th biennial Learn About Birds (LAB) Conference, which was due to be held in Wilderness on 27 and 28 May 2021, will be moving to a virtual platform owing to the current global pandemic and venue limitations under the current National State of Disaster. This event is co-hosted by BirdLife South Africa and the FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology, University of Cape Town.
The Birder's Guide to Africa by Michael Mills (photographs by Tasso Leventis) contains 544 pages and 338 colour photographs.
We have an incredible line up of over 80 presentations, including 8 plenaries from experts in the field of bioacoustics. Talks focus on a wide variety of species, covering a varied range of avian bioacoustics- from the physiology of marine bird hearing to song in both passerines and non-passerines- with numerous renowned researchers within the field presenting including, Magnus Walhberg and Alexander Kirschel.
ABOUT PAOC
The Pan-African Ornithological Congress (PAOC) is held once every four years and it brings together hundreds of professional and dedicated amateur ornithologists. The Fifteenth PAOC (PAOC15) will be held from the 15th to the 19th of November 2021.

Birds of Africa is a FREE App developed as an aid to bird conservation in Africa. It covers countries in west Africa and in time, will include all countries and species in Africa.
