25th Anniversary Annual Meeting and AGM

Keynote Speakers

25th Anniversary Annual Meeting & AGM Saturday 13th April 2019

The meeting was a great success and one of the best that we have had in recent years. It was well attended and it was good to see many well known faces from the world of African ornithology. The speakers were excellent and kept us interested throughout the day.

You can listen to the speakers' presentations on YouTube.

The list of speakers and their subjects follows.

  • Bird conservation in Africa—progress or pretence

Dr Nigel Collar (Leventis Fellow at BirdLife International)

  • A feathered rainbow: the science behind colour in African birds

Dr Stephen Pringle (ABC)

  • The Nigerian Bird Atlas Project: distribution of birds in Nigeria, promoting public engagement, & building capacity for citizen science in Nigeria

Dr Yahkat Barshep (APLORI)

  • African raptors -addressing some regularly recurring identification problems

Dick Forsman (Dick Forsman Birding & Photography, Finland)

  • Turning the tide for Taita Apalis

Sarah Havery (RSPB)

  • Endemic birds in the Horn of Africa

Nigel Redman (ABC)

Wild sounds and books provided a good selection of books for sale and we also had a large selection of books for sale which were a part of the late Martin Woodcock's collection.

Dick Forsman, Nigel Collar and Nigel Redman signed copies of their books.
