Fundraising Officer Vacancy

The African Bird Club (ABC) is looking for a Fundraising Officer to join our board of charity trustees.

You must have:
• excellent interpersonal, networking, communication and organisational skills
• demonstrable experience of fundraising in the charity sector
• a wide knowledge of different fundraising sources and methods

In addition to carrying out your duties as a charity trustee, you will take the lead on developing and implementing ABC’s fundraising strategy, overseeing fundraising for ABC, and ensuring that this is carried out properly. You will also work with ABC’s board of trustees to identify suitable fundraising opportunities, raise awareness of ABC and its work, and pitch to potential donors.

You must have a strong commitment to ABC’s cause. You must also be eligible to become a charity trustee, and able and willing to commit the necessary time (see below) to the role. But previous experience as a charity trustee, whilst desirable, is not essential. An interest in birds or conservation is also desirable but not essential.

Minimum time commitment: ABC’s board of trustees meets three times a year, normally online as we are based in different countries or parts of the UK. Trustees are also expected to give sufficient time and attention to their role on the board, to contribute to email discussions about ABC’s activities and make decisions between meetings, and to attend ABC’s Annual General Meeting of members.

Remuneration: This is a voluntary, unpaid role but reasonable expenses may be claimed.

If you are interested in the role, please email your CV with a short covering letter to contact@africanbirdclub.org
