The ‘Amicale Congolaise pour la Conservation des Oiseaux’ was started by two young ornithologists from DRC at the Pan-African Ornithological Congress in 2000. ACCO aims to work with local communities and establish partnerships with national and international NGOs for the conservation of Congo’s birds.

There are ornithologists at the CSB in Kisangani, see website  http://www.congobiodiv.org/en/infrastructure/csb

“Biodiversité au Katanga” ( BAK) is a Non-Government Organization (NGO) with Congolese rights whose aim is to preserve the natural heritage of Katanga. See http://www.bakasbl.org/en/
