Geography Angola is a very large country with a land area of 1,246,700 km2 and an estimated population of almost 11 million people. A large percentage of this population, perhaps as high as 40%, live in the capital, Luanda. Angola borders the Democratic Republic of the Congo (which also encloses the discontiguous Cabinda Province), Republic of the Congo, Namibia and Zambia and has an Atlantic Ocean coastline of 1,600 km.

The north and east have a cool, dry season from May to October and a hot, rainy season from November to April. The highest point is Morro de Moco at 2,620m.
